Image Protection

Block the right-click menu and image dragging on a gallery's tiles.

Image Protection is the smallest module in the plugin: one switch site-wide, one toggle per gallery, and no settings of its own.

Turning it on

Both halves have to be on:

  1. Site-wide: Shaped Gallery → Settings → Modules → Image Protection is on by default. It has no gear — there's nothing to configure.
  2. Per gallery: Image & Video Settings → Right Click Protection, off by default.

With both on, a visitor can't open the context menu over a gallery image, and can't drag one out to their desktop or another tab.

What it actually stops

Be clear-eyed about this, because the feature's name promises more than any browser can deliver.

Casual, accidental copyingAnyone who wants the file and knows where to look

Everything a browser renders, it has already downloaded. Image Protection raises the effort, it does not prevent copying.

If protection genuinely matters

Combine measures rather than relying on this one:

  • Watermark — a copied image carries your mark.
  • Visibility & Password — the gallery isn't public at all.
  • Turn off the lightbox's Download button in Settings → Modules → Lightbox.
  • Serve smaller files: set Resolution to Medium so what's on the page isn't print-quality.

Two separate right-click settings

There are two, and they cover different surfaces:

SettingWhereCovers
Right Click ProtectionGallery → Image & Video SettingsThe tiles in the gallery.
Right Click ProtectionSettings → Modules → LightboxThe image inside the lightbox.

If you want both, switch on both. Protecting the grid and leaving the lightbox open is the gap people miss.

Things worth knowing

It covers cloned tiles too. The listener is attached to the gallery container rather than to each tile, so tiles a layout generates itself — Perspective's looped clones, Thumbnails' slides — are covered as well. That's deliberate: leaking right-click-save on exactly the layouts that duplicate images would defeat the setting where it's most visible.

Switching the module off doesn't change your galleries. Their stored toggles are untouched, and come back into effect the moment the module is on again.

It adds no weight. One container class and one delegated event listener. No extra bundle.
