Grid
Equal tiles in a fixed number of columns — the most predictable layout of the seven.
Grid puts every image in a square tile of the same size, in as many columns as you ask for. Nothing shifts, nothing measures, nothing settles after load: the browser lays it out from CSS alone.
When to use it
- Product shots, team photos, logos, icons — anything already uniform.
- Galleries where order matters and you want readers to scan left to right, row by row.
- Pages where layout stability matters: Grid is final on first paint.
If your images have very different proportions, Grid will crop them to fit the square. Masonry or Automatic Justified preserve the originals instead.

That's it. Grid and Masonry deliberately share one set of layout controls, so switching between the two changes the packing and nothing else.

Things worth knowing
Tiles are square. The image fills a 1:1 box, which means a tall photo is cropped top and bottom and a wide one is cropped at the sides. That's the trade you're making for a perfectly even grid.
Captions don't break the square. With Classic content on, the caption sits under the image and the row grows to fit the tallest caption in it — the image stays square.
Columns is the mobile fix. Four columns on a phone means four thumbnails the size of a postage stamp. Use the device switcher beside Columns and set 1 or 2 for mobile.
Pair it with pagination. Grid's regularity makes it obvious when a gallery is long. On a set over about forty images, switch on Ajax Pagination so the page ships fifteen tiles instead of four hundred.
